With al fresco dining set to open back up again, we’re all quite literally chomping at the bit to enjoy a meal at a restaurant again!
Essex offers a fantastic food scene with a wide variety of mouth-watering cuisines from all across the world.
In this year’s Michelin guide of the country’s best restaurants, a handful of restaurants enjoyed a mention in the prestigious guide, being either awarded The Michelin Plate or a Bib Gourmand. Here are our top picks…
Galvin Green Man – West Waltham
The Galvin Green Man is situated in the beautiful Essex countryside, with its building dating back to an impressive 1341. This restaurant offers its guests a great mixture of modern British food, with traditional pub classics. This is not one to miss!

Food by John Lawson – Leigh on Sea
John Lawson really can say he’s learned from the best. Lawson finessed his art in the kitchens of Raymond Blanc and Gordon Ramsay – no lamb sauce is missing on his watch!
Back in 2015, John was diagnosed with a brain tumour and he used food to support his ongoing recovery. His restaurant sources local seasonal produce which is nutritionally prepared to support our bodies.
